PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Calcined petroleum coke is a high-quality solid carbon material, which is commonly used as an industrial raw material such as elec-trodes 

and refractories.
After forging, petroleum coke is formed by heating petroleum coke to a high temperature above 1300 ℃, re-moving impurities, volatiles

and water in it, and forming a medium sulfur and low sulfur solid carbon materials with high fixed carbon, low ash content and 

low volatile content. 
Calcined petroleum coke generally has high density, high fire resistance, high combustion efficiency and stability.
It is widely used in industrial production, such as the manufacture of steel, aluminum, casting, carbon indus-try, etc.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

Without adding any other raw materials, the calcined coke obtained by calcining the raw coke at 1300℃ can effectively improve the physical properties of the raw coke, such as conductivity and density. Finally, the qualified calcined coke is discharged after being cooled .

APPLICATION AREAS

1. Raw Material for Graphite Electrode/Graphite Block Production

This is the core application of CPC (Calcined Petroleum Coke).

The production of ultra-high power and high power graphite electrodes requires low-sulfur CPC as the main raw material,

which is processed through crushing, grinding, molding, calcination, and graphitization.

Graphite electrodes are widely used in electric arc furnace steelmaking and submerged arc furnace ferroalloy smelting,

serving to conduct electricity and generate heat.

 

Compatibility Requirements: Sulfur content ≤0.5%, volatile matter ≤0.5%, ash content ≤0.3%, otherwise the high-temperature resistance

and conductivity of the electrode will be affected.

 

2. Prebaked Anode Production (Core Raw Material for the Aluminum Electrolysis Industry)

The prebaked anodes used in aluminum electrolysis cells are made from over 90% CPC.

Prebaked anodes act as the anode conductor during electrolysis and simultaneously participate in the electrochemical reaction to generate CO₂.

 

Suitability Requirements: Sulfur content (≤1.5%) and trace elements (vanadium, sodium, etc.) must be controlled to avoid the generation

of impurity gases during electrolysis, which could affect the purity of the molten aluminum and the electrolysis efficiency.

 

3. Low-end casting carburizer (substitute/blending)

In applications where casting quality requirements are not high (such as gray cast iron parts and ordinary cast steel parts), CPC can be used

as a low-cost carburizer in blends.

However, it should be noted that its high sulfur and nitrogen content can easily lead to defects such as porosity and sulfur embrittlement in

castings.

 

Suitable applications: Agricultural machinery parts, building hardware castings, low-precision mechanical housings, etc.

 

4. Ferroalloy smelting auxiliary material

In the submerged arc furnace smelting of ferrosilicon and ferromanganese alloys, CPC can be used as a carbon reducing agent to react with

iron oxides to produce ferroalloys, while providing the heat required for smelting.

 

5. Silicon carbide production

After being mixed with quartz sand and smelted at high temperature, silicon carbide abrasives or refractory materials are produced.
